One of Oceania’s most talented Duos is looking to take their Fortnite domination to the other side of the world.

For a long time there has been debate over the “strongest” regions in competitive Fortnite. Currently, Europe is widely considered to be the hardest place to play, largely owing to the sheer number of people on the server.

What’s less concrete however, is how the smaller regions stack up in terms of skill, and whether top pros from these areas could find similar success in EU and NA. With the Covid pandemic and no in-person events for over two years, this has been primarily guesswork.

We got our first glimpse at a real answer when SpeedyND, Looter and Muz left OCE to live in NA East back in Chapter 2 Season 7. They didn’t last too long as a trio after failing to qualify for Grand Finals, but Muz went on to win the FNCS with Bugha and Mero in Season 8.

Now another top Australian team is taking a trip overseas. Having won the latest Duo Cash Cup just moments before, VortexM and Sunz announced that they will both be heading to Europe.

They posted identical tweets, including the classic “It’s Official” contract gif and the German flag. Sunz confirmed in the replies that they plan to go as soon as possible once Chapter 3 Season 1 has concluded.

It is likely that an EU Fortnite org is facilitating the move, similar to what TNA did with Muz and co. Some fans are already predicting Become Legends, given their big plans for 2022 and constant drive to push the scene forward.

So, can they hang?

VortexM and Sunz have been playing together since Chapter 2 Season 6 so have good chemistry already. They were Season 7 FNCS Champions on OCE, placed second in Season 8 and third in the Grand Royale, plus they’ve won a slew of Cash Cups.

They will inevitably need some time to adjust to the EU playstyle and will potentially have to find a new drop spot. Not to mention, making it through open qualifiers is a completely different beast in Europe, before you even start thinking about how they would perform in a Finals lobby.

It’s a daunting task, though certainly one VortexM and Sunz seem ready for. They have the mechanics necessary and both appear to be going into this with the right mindset.

Only time will tell how well they do placement-wise, but regardless it’s great to see Fortnite giving young people opportunities like this. They will get the chance to bootcamp with other pros, create content and experience life in a new continent, and it is also promising for the competitive scene in general that an org has chosen to make this investment.
