A new season of Fortnite is now live, bringing a post-apocalyptic twist to the battle royale with Fallout, Magneto, and plenty of nitrous oxide, all wrapped up in Mad Max-esque flair. Entitled 'Wrecked', Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 3 follows on from last season's Greek Gods theme with an exciting new Battle Pass, new weapons, skins, and more.

According to an Epic Games blog post, "A fierce sandstorm recently swept across the island, creating a new biome in the south called the Wasteland. The Wasteland Warriors have already claimed ownership of the place (after all, they rode in on the sandstorm). This crew moves as fast as their tricked-out cars, as evidenced by the locations they've already established.

In this article, we'll break down the new locations and all the latest features you need to know about.

Battle Pass

Let's start with the battle pass. This season introduces a mix of brand-new characters created by Epic Games, known as original skins within the Fortnite community, as well as collaboration skins from Bethesda's post-apocalyptic Fallout series and the infamous X-Men villain, Magneto.

Take a look at all the skins in the battle pass below:

New Points of Interest

One of the first new points of interest on the map is Redline Rig, a Nitro refinery operated by The Machinist, the master mechanic of the Wasteland Warriors. This character is also available in the battle pass.

Another notable location in the south of the island is Nitrodrome. This circus-like car spectacle is run by Ringmaster Scarr, who is also part of the battle pass.

From Nitrodrome, you can easily reach Brutal Beachhead, where Megalo Don is in charge. Known as the Wasteland Warriors' "master muscle," Megalo Don presents a formidable challenge, according to the Epic Games blog post.

Epic has also made other changes to the map. For instance, Snooty Steppes has been transformed into Sandy Steppes.

Going Nitro

Throughout the island, you'll encounter Nitro Splash and Nitro Barrels, both originating from Redline Rig. Nitro Splash is a portable Nitro container that you can deploy to give yourself or your vehicle a fiery boost. Nitro Barrels are containers that "Nitro-fy" on contact, flying away and exploding upon landing when hit.

How Nitro works in the new season!

Here's how Nitro works in Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 3 – Wrecked:

For Vehicles:

  • Increased Driving Speed: Nitro-fied vehicles move faster.
  • Explosive Ramming Power: Deals damage and knockback to obstacles and opponents.
  • Reduced Fuel Consumption: Vehicles use less fuel.
  • Enhanced Attack Mods: Attached attack modifications receive a boost.

For Players:

  • Explosive Bashing Power: Deals damage and knockback, capable of breaking through builds.
  • Reduced Stamina Consumption: Players use less stamina.
  • Faster Reload Speed: Weapons reload more quickly.
  • Fall Damage Immunity: Players take no damage from falls.

New Weapons And More

One of the exciting new additions to the Battle Royale arsenal is the Nitro Fists. These powerful weapons allow you to perform a three-punch combo, an uppercut, or an aerial punch that propels you through the air.

Nitro Fists have four charges, with each charge recharging every eight seconds. The uppercut and aerial punch each use one charge, while the three-punch combo uses none. If you perform an aerial punch and hit the ground instead of an enemy, "the impact will be meteoric to surrounding enemies," according to Epic's blog post.

Another new weapon is the Boom Bolt, a fast-firing, moddable crossbow that shoots explosive bolts. Epic notes that just a few shots from the Boom Bolt can take down a vehicle.

Returning weapons include:

  • Cerberus' Gatekeeper Shotgun
  • Combat Shotgun
  • Gatekeeper Shotgun
  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Oscar's Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Warforged Assault Rifle

  • Enforcer AR

To equip a new mod, simply hit a Vehicle Mod Box, and it will automatically attach to your vehicle. You can identify the mod you'll receive by the symbol on the box.

You can repair your vehicle and its mods using the new Repair Torch or Repair Boxes, which are scattered around the map. Additionally, gas pumps have been replaced with Service Stations. These stations allow you to refill your vehicle's gas and health while parked on a station pad.

The new Behemoth Car Body, an SUV vehicle, has joined the vehicle roster.

Beyond weapons and vehicle fortifications, there's Nuka-Cola, which gradually restores both health and shield.

Lastly, there are the Kind Cacti. These cacti provide a splash of healing to players and vehicles when pickaxed or driven through.

New Bosses

Defeating The Machinist will reward you with The Machinist's Medallion, which generates your shield over time. If you defeat her inside Redline Rig, you can use this medallion to open the garage containing her car. No matter where you defeat her, she will also drop The Machinist's Combat Assault Rifle.

Taking down Ringmaster Scarr grants you Ringmaster Scarr's Medallion, providing infinite ammo and a small damage buff. If you defeat her in the Nitrodrome, you can open the garage holding her car. Regardless of the location, she will drop the Ringmaster's Boom Bolt.

Finally, defeating Megalo Don gives you Megalo Don's Medallion, which infuses you with infinite Nitro. Additionally, you will receive Megalo Don's Nitro Fists.
