Everything we know about the Fortnite x Naruto collab: Date, skins, items & more

From Deadpool to Star Wars we’ve had plenty of Fortnite mash ups to enjoy, now it’s Naruto’s turn to leave a mark on the Battle Royale Island.

Having been leaked since early 2021, the upcoming crossover between Fortnite and popular Japanese manga-turned-anime Naruto is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated collaborations yet.

The titular character has become somewhat of a cultural icon over the last couple of years especially and it will be interesting to see what Epic does with the IP. Whether you’re a fan of the series or just trying to keep up with the ever-evolving world of Fortnite, we’ve got you covered with all the key details:

When?

Ok, let’s start off with timings. We’ve been hearing different stories for the last few seasons but it seems that the wait is almost over.

In a recent Tweet, dataminer @HYPEX stated, “Since a lot of people keep asking me… Fortnite x Naruto is happening next month, I PROMISE you”. So while the exact date is still unknown, we can confidently expect it to be at some point in November.

Cosmetics

A huge part of these big-name integrations is special themed gear in the Item Shop. Let’s face it, this is where the money is made. Almost certainly this means we will get a Naruto skin and accompanying accessories, but it appears a couple of the other main characters may also be available.

Following Tuesday’s v18.30 patch, the “Headband” ID believed to be related to Naruto was updated with a second tag. One prevailing theory is that the tags “HeadbandS” and “HeadbandK” hint at potential Sasuke and Kakashi Outfits.

Items

As has been the case with Marvel, DC and other collabs in the past, it looks like Fortnite x Naruto will have an impact on gameplay and the Island itself. A throwable Explosive Kunai is set to arrive as a new Mythic Weapon.

According to the stats above shared by Hypex, the Kunai will have an impressive 300-meter range countered by a relatively slow 4 second recharge cooldown. The damage figures remain unreleased, though regardless, this will make a good pickup for trick-shotters!

Mythic Boss + Creative

Leaks suggest that there will also be a Naruto NPC roaming the map. There isn’t much more information available than that, so they could be a friendly, or a perhaps a boss that you have to fight to obtain the Mythic Kunai.

Additionally, @iFireMonkey reported that two new Creative Coins, “Ramen” and “Ninja Scroll” were introduced in v18.30. Viewers of the anime will note that the ramen looks almost identical to the illustrations used in Naruto. Maybe this indicates that a Creative minigame is on the cards too.

All will be revealed shortly, but it’s safe to say this is going to be exciting. With Fortnitemares 2021 drawing to a close, this could be the next major event on Fortnite’s content calendar.
