It sounds like Epic Games have a lot instore for Fortnite players over the coming weeks.

Following on from last week’s content-packed v18.21 update, Fortnite fans were expecting more of the same on Tuesday with the v18.30 build. However, bar a couple of minor changes to the map, the latest patch mainly seemed to be gearing things up for the future.

So, what did happen?

New Mountain Base

After two years and eight seasons on the Fortnite Chapter 2 Island, the mysterious bunker next to Catty Corner has finally opened. To the disappointment of some lore-loving gamers, it has revealed yet another underground IO base.

Boogie Bomb vs Combat Shotgun

Another War Effort community vote is live, either the Boogie Bomb or Combat Shotgun will be unvaulted. Head to one of the Funding Stations around the map to pledge your gold.

Leaks

As mentioned earlier, while not a whole lot changed in-game today, plenty of exciting leaks surfaced confirming previous rumours and upcoming additions.

Pyramid POI & Desert Biome

A potential Pyramid-themed location was first leaked way back in Season 7, and although it seemed almost guaranteed to arrive, we now have even stronger evidence. Discovered by @gameshed_ and reported by @HYPEX, the Cube Queen’s banner and a “Visit The Pyramid” challenge were found in the files.

The Convergence in the center of the map did reach its next phase in v18.30, but is yet to resemble a Pyramid in any way.  HYPEX also mentioned that there’s an NPC coming that is set to spawn in the “Desert”, further hinting that a whole new biome is on the way.

New Items

A selection of new loot was also leaked, including a Combat Pistol assumably with similar recoil to its Assault Rifle namesake and an Icy Grappler. The Icy Grappler is set to be available from the Fabio Sparklemane NPC meaning it could possibly be an Exotic. Credit @iFireMonkey:

Plus @HYPEX shared stats for the upcoming Mythic Explosive Kunai weapon. It has an insane range of up to 300 meters and a 4 second cooldown, though the damage figures remain unknown. Further support for the long-awaited Naruto collab comes in the form of updated “HeadbandK” and “HeadbandS” tags which some guess represent popular characters Kakashi and Sasuke.

As previously predicted, a community funding goal to bring back the B.R.U.T.E.s will be launching in a few weeks’ time. According to iFireMonkey, “We will NOT be choosing between the mech and another item, it’s simply to fund the mech”.

Cosmetics

An awesome array of skins and accessories look to be dropping soon, with a couple Halloween Outfits still to release. You can also now complete a series of Quests to unlock the Cube Queen and her accompanying gear.

Leaks show a new zombified version of the Boundless set superhero Outfits like we saw with the soccer skins in the past, as well as Shadow Midas and some extra style options for Hacivat and Hush. Check them out below courtesy of @ShiinaBR and @XTigerHyperX:
