New and updated Zone Wars maps released

Zone Wars fans will be happy to know that some of the top creators have been busy working on fresh content for us all to enjoy.

This custom game mode is designed to mimic realistic Fortnite end game situations and allow players to practice without the pressure of being in a real match or tournament. Having been popular with the competitive community for a while, Zone Wars gained traction with more casual players too after becoming a featured playlist at the end of Season X.

Well now “Jesgran”, the man behind “Zone Wars – Colosseum,” is back with a brand-new map, and it does not disappoint. The Halloween themed creation gives off some seriously spooky vibes, with occasional lightning strikes and ghost sounds haunting the map.

Jesgran says that “Zone Wars – Halloween” is much more optimised for competitive play than Colosseum. With random zones like those in ZeroYaHero’s popular “Vortex” map, this new offering gives a significantly more accurate simulation of a real end game. The loot pool is based on Fortnite Chapter 2 loot, meaning no vaulted items and players will instead be given a random loadout similar to one they might have in-game.

How to play

Sounds awesome right? But how can you try it out? There are a few ways.

Firstly, the map is going to be featured in Creative mode rifts for a week, beginning November 10th. But if like us you can’t wait till then you can simply type the code in to your own Creative server with friends or head into Playground fills to find more people. Unfortunately, if you play in Playground the siphon mechanic won’t work but it is still good practice.

The Colosseum map has also been updated with an improved loot pool for Chapter 2. The code for this is 7058-7590-2628.

Vortex Zone Wars

ZeroYaHero’s Vortex map was definitely one of the most popular choices from the featured Zone Wars playlist. Luckily for us, this one is also getting a Chapter 2 rework. ZeroYaHero told reddit that the map is currently “just a beta” but should work fine. Zero plans on keeping very busy this season, with regular Vortex updates as well as a host of other exciting projects.

The good news is, even though the map is currently only in beta, Zero will be updating this code, so you won’t ever need to change it.

All the talk of new and updated maps has Zone Wars enthusiasts speculating a return of the featured playlist. Unfortunately, this seems quite unlikely to happen anytime soon. With the Fortnite Chapter 2 map still so young, Epic Games will want players to spend as much time as possible playing and exploring the standard Battle Royale island. So, for now your best bet is gathering a group of friends, hopping in playground fill, or joining a creative mode Discord channel to get your Zone Wars fix.
