We finally have a date and time for the delayed v7.40 Fortnite patch.
The next and final patch of Fortnite Season 7, v7.40, is one of the more exciting patches in recent memory. Epic is addressing several problems that the Fortnite community has raised over the past few months, include Hand Cannons, Planes crashing through builds, zip lines, and rocket launchers.
Along with these changes will come a slew of "Overtime" challenges that will help fill the extra two weeks of Season 7 and grant players some exclusive rewards.
Unfortunately, those who loaded their game this morning found out that patch 7.40 had been delayed yet again. Epic first told us that the patch would be coming today, but tweeted about a last-minute issue right before the downtime was supposed to begin.
Due to a last minute issue we've discovered within the v7.40 release, the update will be delayed.

We’ll give you an exact time when we lock it down.
The official Fortnite account followed-up by stating that the unplanned downtime players experienced this morning was not related to the new patch, and that more details would come when they had a set date and time.
More recently, we heard the final deadline for v7.40 from the Fortnite account, planning it for Valentine's day at 4 AM EST (the standard update time for most patches).
Unwrap something sweet in the v7.40 update!

Downtime for the patch begins Thursday, February 14 at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC).
So, it looks like we'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to get our hands on all of the changes Epic has made to Fortnite.
Although this delay is a bit annoying because of all of the exciting news the new patch will bring, I think most people prefer that Epic takes their time. I, for one, would much rather Epic delay a patch rather than adding something that will break the game for a week or more.
We'll be covering the patch notes once they're available, so make sure to follow @FortniteTracker on Twitter for more news as it comes.
