Fortnite, the groundbreaking battle royale phenomenon developed by Epic Games, has captured the hearts of millions of players worldwide since its inception in 2017. With its dynamic gameplay and rapidly evolving competitive scene, Fortnite has cultivated a league of extraordinary players. In this article, we embark on a captivating journey through the realm of Fortnite esports and explore the remarkable individuals who have etched their names into the halls of glory. We present to you the unparalleled legends of Fortnite, as crowned by the prestigious Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS).

EpikWhale

Shane Cotton, better known as EpikWhale, is undeniably one of the best players ever in Fortnite. His career began back in 2019, where he made a name for himself in the World Cup qualifiers, winning Week 3 in solo and placing second in duos during Week 10, securing qualifications for both competitions. The young talent achieved an impressive third-place finish in the solo finals, earning over half a million dollars, and placed twelfth in the duo finals, winning approximately fifty thousand dollars. After the conclusion of the World Cup, the Fortnite Competitive team had to devise a new tournament format to maintain the excitement, thus introducing the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), which has been ongoing since then.

In the inaugural FNCS, EpikWhale secured a commendable fourth-place finish. However, as time went on, Shane continued to play, improve, and win. His first FNCS championship title came in Chapter 2 Season 2, alongside Rehx. As Fortnite evolved, transitioning to the trio format, EpikWhale claimed victory in FNCS Chapter 2 Season 4, Season 5, Season 6, and Season 7, partnering with Arkhram and Rehx. At the end of 2021, the FNCS Grand Royale tournament took place, featuring a format similar to last year's FNCS Invitational, but held online and allowing players to qualify based on their performance throughout the year. It comes as no surprise that Shane and his trio emerged victorious in that FNCS as well.

To this day, Shane remains one of the best players in North America, and we have no doubt that he will continue to triumph in future tournaments within his region.

TaySon

Tay "TaySon" Starcic is undoubtedly one of the best and most renowned European players of all time. His career also began back in 2019, but unlike EpikWhale, he unfortunately did not qualify for the World Cup. TaySon started making a name for himself in early 2020 when he began playing in duos with JannisZ and achieved remarkable results in solo tournaments. It comes as no surprise that TaySon emerged as the winner in the FNCS Chapter 2 Season 3 solo competition, showcasing his exceptional skills.

Following that success, TaySon formed one of the most beloved and formidable trios of all time with Mongraal and Mitr0. Together, they secured victory in the FNCS Chapter 2 Season 4. Over time, TaySon's skills improved significantly, culminating in his remarkable third-place finish in the trio FNCS in May and June 2021, alongside 4zr and Nayte. Additionally, he claimed first place in the FNCS All Star Showdown solo competition. At the end of 2021, TaySon competed in the FNCS Grand Royale alongside Hen and Chapix, and it goes without saying that their trio dominated the entire tournament, emerging as the champions.

TaySon's most recent success came a few months ago when he won the FNCS Major 1 Finals alongside Merstarch, and he also secured a second-place finish in the FNCS Major 2. It remains to be seen how he will perform in the upcoming FNCS Major 3 and whether he will join the ranks of EpikWhale by winning his sixth FNCS championship.

Phzin

Pedro "Phzin" Henrique began competing in 2019, but it is safe to say that his competitive career truly took off in mid-2021 when he teamed up with OPai and GSX. Together, they clinched their first FNCS victory in Chapter 2 Season 7. This period marked a turning point for Phzin as, within a couple of months, he would go on to win the FNCS of Season 8 and the FNCS Grand Royale, both alongside the same trio.

The subsequent FNCS shifted to duos, and Pedro teamed up with Kitoz. Needless to say, their duo dominated the competition and emerged as the champions in Chapter 3 Season 1 FNCS. Continuing their remarkable success, the duo continued to achieve outstanding results. In 2023, they claimed another FNCS championship, winning the FNCS Major 1 in Chapter 4 Season 1. They secured a respectable fourth-place finish in the Major 2 as well. It will be intriguing to see how they perform in the upcoming FNCS Major 3 and what heights they can reach.

So far, I have discussed three key figures for each region, sharing their stories. However, there are several players who deserve mention for their incredible careers: Arkhram, despite retiring from Fortnite last year, remains one of only two players, alongside EpikWhale, to have won 6 FNCS titles. Among the team of 5-time FNCS champions, alongside TaySon and Phzin, we find Mero. Rehx, who unfortunately no longer competes, is the only player to have won 4 FNCS titles. In the group of players who have claimed 3 FNCS titles, we have JannisZ, Hen, Queasy, Dukez, the legendary Bugha, Muz, Snacky, Favs, K1ng, OPai, GSX, PepoClip, Runa, Suns, Volx, Looter, and Jynx.
