Fortnite Creative 2.0 should be coming out within the next few months, and some fans think they know the release date.

It’s been in the works for years now, but the next generation of Fortnite Creative mode is set to launch very soon. Creative 2.0 builds upon the existing features to give players a whole lot more power to bring their ideas to life.

Epic Games has acknowledged that Creative 2.0 is in development multiple times, but is keeping the exact details close to its chest. However, we have learned a good amount from leaks.

Here’s what we know so far:

When is Fortnite Creative 2.0 coming out?

Fortnite Creative Mode 2.0

Fortnite Creative 2.0 is confirmed to come out in 2022, with a December release date looking most likely.

In an interview earlier this year, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed plans to release Creative 2.0 in 2022. He also stated, “we’re building an economy, and it will support creators actually building businesses around their work”.

Following Wednesday’s 21.51 update, gaming journalist Tom Henderson took to Twitter to say that Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 5 will start on December 5, 2022.

This is significant because it links to a theory about Creative 2.0 from popular leaker @HYPEX. Back in August, he tweeted this:

“Ch1S7 released on December 6th 2018 WITH creative (exclusive for a limited time). So.. If Ch3S4 is 79 days long (average seasons length), that means Ch3S5 launches on December 6th and we could get Creative 2.0 that day, exactly 4 years after Creative 1.0”.

Now, if there was extended downtime, as there often is at the end of a Fortnite season, this could end up being true.

What is Fortnite Creative 2.0?

Technically called Unreal Editor, Fortnite Creative 2.0 is the future of user-generated Fortnite content.

It will give everyone access to many of the tools that Epic uses to develop Fortnite. Think way more customisation, advanced AI manipulation, and limitless possibilities.

A scripting language known as “Verse” will allow another level of creativity, and the platform will be regularly updated with new features. This is Epic’s next step in its goal to build the metaverse.

Some of the original leaked features are already being added to the current version of Fortnite Creative. There’s a bunch of mind-blowing maps out there that literally feel like a completely different game.

Will Creative 2.0 be on console?

Yes, it appears that Creative 2.0 will be on console, though it could be quite tricky to use.

The leaks we’ve seen so far suggest that Creative 2.0 will be available on all platforms. It also seems that Epic is working to give console players just as much control as those on PC.

This is not confirmed though. There is a chance that consoles simply don’t have the power to run some of these features. And, even if they do, the UI, using a controller etc, may make things a lot harder for creators.
