Just a day before he competes in the Fortnite FNCS Finals, NRG esports pro Cody “Clix” Conrod has dropped his first track.

“Florida Water” features chart-topping musician Gunna and TikTok sensation FN Meka, a virtual AI rapper. The new song released on August 12 and is available via all streaming platforms.

Now, before you get too excited; Clix himself doesn’t actually do any rapping on the single. In fact, he doesn’t say a word.

As explained in his recent YouTube video titled “I Made a Song with Gunna”, Clix is instead credited as a producer on Florida Water. If you watch the vlog, you’ll see behind-the-scenes footage of him in the studio.

Regardless, the song is destined to perform well. With multiple number one albums under his belt, anything with the name Gunna attached to it is guaranteed to attract plenty of listeners. Not to mention that it was released under UMG’s legendary Capitol Records record label.

Most excitingly though, in tribute to his streaming roots, Clix’s team ensured that Florida Water is completely free from copyright. This means you can listen to it on Twitch, YouTube and other platforms without worrying about DMCA strikes and demonetization.

While his actual involvement in the song may have been limited, this is a huge step for Clix. During a broadcast on Wednesday, he chatted to his fans about preparing for life after Fortnite, saying that he would be starting to experiment with more variety and IRL content.

Don’t panic though! Clix also made it clear that he is enjoying the game right now and has no immediate plans to quit. Despite all the other stuff he has going on, this is arguably the best form we’ve seen from the young gamer competitively in a long time.

Is this the start of an illustrious music career for Clix, who knows? It would be cool to hear his vocals on a beat here soon, but if nothing else, Florida Water is another massive achievement ticked off the bucket list.
