Celebrate Star Wars Day in Fortnite this year with the return of some popular items.
Fortnite is famous for its huge and eclectic catalogue of collaborations, featuring some of the most culturally significant brands in the world. Comic book rivals Marvel and DC have been regular guests to the Island, and we’ve even seen the NBA and NFL get involved.
Another fan favorite crossover was Star Wars. Undeniably one of the biggest movie franchises of all time, George Lucas’ work has spawned a selection of spin-offs, a few of which have also found their way inside the Fortnite universe.
Back in December 2019, the first live event of Chapter 2 gave players the chance to watch an exclusive scene from “The Rise of Skywalker” on the screen in Risky Reels. This was accompanied by the release of a number of Star Wars themed weapons and Outfits.
Since then, we’ve witnessed The Mandalorian boss patrol C2:S5’s sand biome with his Amban Sniper Rifle, and bounty hunters Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, and Krrsantan have each blessed the Item Shop.
Now Star Wars lovers are getting hungry for more in-game content, and it seems they won’t have long to wait. Leaks suggest that we could get an update on or around May the fourth – A.K.A. Star Wars Day.
And it looks like hopefully, it won’t just be a couple of skins coming back. According to dataminer @HYPEX, Epic is working on a challenge that “requires you to deal damage with a Lightsaber” and Lightsaber Chests have been adjusted too.
So, we can expect the icon Lightsaber item to return, and its unique blocking ability will certainly be handy in Zero Build mode. Potentially the First Order Blast Rifle will also make another appearance.
A new Imperial Stormtrooper NPC who will call you “Rebel Scum” if you get too close has been found in the game files, though this may be part of next season’s even more exciting Star Wars activation.
Yes, that’s right! Characters from the sci-fi classic are anticipated to play a major role in the Chapter 3 Season 3 storyline. With the current season scheduled to end on June 3, here’s what we know so far:
Though nothing is confirmed until it happens, leakers are very confident that the Supreme Commander himself, Darth Vader will be coming to Fortnite. He will likely headline the Battle Pass, as well as being a boss in-game and possibly having his own POI.
Based on the description of the Stormtrooper NPC shared by @iFireMonkey, the Galactic Empire is set to side with the IO. Perhaps this indicates that the war between the Resistance and the IO will continue to be a central theme going forward.
Whatever happens, it definitely sounds as though this is a good time to be playing Fortnite if you’re into Star Wars. May the Force be with you!
