The first content update of Fortnite Season 5 has arrived, bringing a whole host of exciting changes.

It’s hard to believe that two weeks have passed since our epic battle with Galactus. As we gear up for the holiday period, the v15.10 patch drops with some festive new features.

Operation: Snowdown

This year’s take on Winterfest, codenamed Operation: Snowdown, is planned to launch later this week. As well as a Christmassy loading screen and some icy LTM’s, expect a full list of challenges to work through.

Completing these missions will earn you a bunch of snowy cosmetics, including the free Snowmando and Frost Squad Outfits. It also looks like the bottom right section of the map may find itself covered in snow.

New Items

Two new Exotic weapons have been introduced. Speak to the Blaze NPC to get your hands on the Dragon’s Breath Sniper. If you prefer to remain cool under pressure, Snowmando’s special launcher, named “The Big Chill”, lobs a barrage of Chiller Grenades at your enemies.

The new Cowboy Repeater Rifle is also available, combining a rapid rate of fire with pin-point accuracy. A Snowy Flopper that grants users with icy feet has been added to the files, as well as the Sneaky Snowmando, which disguises you as a snowman and creates a frosty explosion when destroyed.

120 FPS on Next Gen Consoles

Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S can now choose to run Fortnite at 120 FPS. To do this, head into Video Settings, and toggle on “120 FPS Mode”. Remember that you must also have a display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and make sure that this is enabled on both your monitor and console.

With this new performance upgrade, it will be interesting to see how Epic approaches platform-based competition going forward. Next gen users are now far better equipped to face off against those on PC, but if competitive Fortnite goes fully cross-platform, PS4 and Xbox One players will be left in the dust.

New Cosmetics

As usual, leakers have uncovered a trove of upcoming skins. This includes the new Frosty Legends Pack, Neon bundle and more. Take a look at the outfits in-game below, courtesy of @HYPEX.

The v15.10 patch certainly did not disappoint, and with Season 5 scheduled to run for another three months, we can be hopeful that Epic will continue to keep things fresh.
