One of Australia’s largest content creators, Kathleen “Loserfruit” Belsten, was about to make a debut to the Fortnite item shop

June 3rd was the leaked date for “the Loserfruit bundle” to arrive in the Fortnite item shop. Previous reports concluded that we’d see a dedicated skin, emote, and backbling. Take another peek at what’s to come:

Well the shop has just updated - and Loserfruit is definitely not in the item shop. While Epic didn’t make a direct comment on the matter yet, Loserfruit made a statement on her stream to clear the air

Loserfruit confirmed the leaks to be true. “It was meant to come out on the third,” said Belsten. She would later add, “Last night, me and Epic decided it wasn’t the right time to release the skin this week”

While not directly referencing the reason, we can safely assume that the current political climate is a key reason why they’re delaying the launch. Just a few hours ago, Epic announced a weeklong delay to the Doomsday event and Season 3 launch

In the extended blog, Epic directly referenced the protests and Black Lives Matter movement. “Recent events are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color. We're acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing.”

Calling off the Loserfruit drop further extends Epic’s solidarity towards the cause. Multiple delays is never a financially profitable venture, but there are more pressing issues that are worth way more than short term gain. Kudos to both Epic and Loserfruit for coming to the right conclusion

On the bright side, prominent Fortnite leaker Hypex suggested that the Loserfruit combo could hit the item shop as soon as next week. Look out for any updates on Twitter

UPDATE: Loserfruit confirmed that June 16th is her bundle’s new release date
