In a recent announcement, Epic noted that Season 3 will start on the 17th of June
In light of the recent political climate, Epic Games has taken a hard-lined stance against racism and discrimination of any kind. In a further sign of solidarity, Epic will also delay the new season and events that will take away from focusing on the issues that truly matter in the world

The blog post reads:
Recent events are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color. We're acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing.
We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics.
The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.
The live event The Device will be delayed to Monday, June 15, and the Season 3 launch delayed to Wednesday, June 17. We know this delay comes on the heels of another one, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during these difficult times.

While this is the second consecutive season delay, it simply cannot be pinned on Epic’s mismanagement. It seems like though they were locked and loaded, ready for this weekend’s event and the subsequent seasonal update, but would rather allow more pressing issues to shine
I fully support the actions Epic has taken. After all, they’re most likely getting hit financially for further delaying what is supposed to be a highly anticipated and hype time for the game. But sometimes, values and principles are worth more than money

And this is one of those situations. We at FortniteTracker stand in support for anyone who opposes all types of hate, discrimination, prejudice, and racism we unfortunately witness all too often
At the end of the day, I firmly believe Fortnite (and gaming in general) unites all of us regardless of our differences. In a world where polarization is quickly becoming the norm, we must stick to our roots and embrace one another
