ZeroYaHero releases new Frosty Zone Wars map

Creator of the popular Vortex Zone Wars map “ZeroYaHero” has a brand-new creation out just in time for the holiday season. Frosty Zone Wars promises to be smaller, less steep and more competitive than Vortex, and takes places on a very merry backdrop.

I caught up with ZeroYaHero to ask some questions about the new map:

What is it that makes this map more competitive than Vortex?

Well after a lot of feedback from Vortex, the biggest problems was RNG with spawns. The lowest spawn compared to the highest was a big difference making it unfair which isn’t always great. In Frosty, the terrain is smooth and more reflective of chapter 2 I’d say. The difference of the highest spawn and the lowest spawn is significantly smaller. Not to mention Vortex was larger and the biggest part of the feedback to Vortex was they (competitive subreddit) wanted a smaller map. Frosty does that really well to where it doesn’t feel to crowded but feels like an endgame.

Are there any Christmas items available to pick up or is it more cosmetic?

Christmas items were things I did want to touch on for example the presents, I wanted to do that but since I like to make my maps reflect the main game as much as possible I didn’t add them. Don’t worry though as I believe in a future update epic will add such things and i will be fast to update the map and the code will stay the same.

What is the best way for people to try the new map if they can’t find many others to play with?

The best way to play if you don't have anyone available is to use playground fill. I'm sure this map will be great for that. Just press playground, switch to fill. Then race to the top left rift and paste the code.

Are you looking forward to playing some Battle Royale after the Christmas update drops, or will you be sticking to Creative?

I probably will play a bit of the Christmas update in br for fun because epic usually does a great job with seasonal events. I will also be playing the Winter Royale with youtuber Geerzy. That is just for fun, but I like to play competitive events for inspiration for future scrim zone wars maps.

Is there anything else you are working on or planning for the future?

Yes, I have a duos map coming soon, and some interesting box fight type games that are different from your average box fight map. Hopefully, those do well.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Last thing I want to add is I worked pretty hard on this map to get the right feel, I moved the location of the map 3 times and it feels perfect now. I spent a lot of time on the lobby and the aesthetics as well which makes the whole map pretty satisfying. I hope everyone enjoys it, hopefully as much if not more then Vortex.
