Epic changed the final circle in Fortnite to avoid Rift Zones with the latest content update, but players are still experiencing the problem. Epic has issued a response to these reports.

The content update on September 18 was supposed to address the issue of the final circle landing in Rift Zones. No-building, Prop Hunt, and Taco Time were routinely ruining the late-game in both core and competitive modes, and avoiding this issue was a welcome change.

Well, it only took a few hours for players to realize that new mechanic wasn't working the way it was supposed to - or at least it seemed that way.

Screenshots were captured and posted to Reddit complaining about the final circles still drawing players to Moisty Palms and Greasy Grove. Players were complaining that the update didn't do anything, and assumed there must be an issue.

Well, later in the day, gstaffEpic commented on one of these posts clarifying the change. The comment stated that the new patch allowed Epic to avoid these locations in the final circle only.

The comment was not well-received by the community. The replies to this comment were flooded with people saying, "What's the point?"

I have to admit, I agree with these comments. What's the point of only changing the circle to avoid these locations when it's coming to a close?

Furthermore, it seems unlikely that this update is still working as intended. The final circle still closes on these locations, even though it's not supposed to.

On top of all of this, the final circle is only ever an issue in Solos. Core Duos and Squads almost never make it to the final circle anyways.

In Arena Mode, this problem is even worse. The circle moves, which means there's a high chance of the circle returning to one of the Rift Zones.

The solution to this problem is simple: disable the Rift Zone mechanics after a certain number of Storm Circles. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Epic has any plans to do this.
