Finally, after a few days of mech-free gameplay, everyone's favorite mechanical killing machine is enabled in all game modes again.

The BRUTE is probably the most-hated item Fortnite has ever seen. Competitive and casual players alike have banded together in telling Epic to remove the mech from the game - or at least from Arena Mode.

When SypherPK released a clip of the bugged mech stomp on August 30, Epic responded by removing it from the game while they worked on a fix.

Unfortunately, this was only temporary. Epic fixed this bug and put the mech back into all game modes - including competitive.

Why the Mech was Removed

Epic removed the mech following this clip from streamer SypherPK - who later gloated on Twitter about 1v1ing the mech out of existence.

The team worked quickly to fix this issue and push everyone's favorite Fortnite vehicle back into the core Fortnite playlists.

Originally, Epic only put the mech back into public game modes and supported LTMs. They kept it out of competitive mode when the fix went live on August 31, but now it's back in Arena.

As you can probably guess, the competitive community isn't too happy about this update. They thought that Epic was finally listening to them and keeping the BRUTE out of competitive, but they were sorely mistaken.

If there was ever a time to start to separate the casual and competitive loot pools, it's right now. The mech remains a game-breaking vehicle that has no place in competitive Fortnite, but Epic doesn't seem to care.

This is just another in a long line of examples that shows Epic's dedication to casual players over the state of competitive play.

Sure, it may have looked like Epic was listening when they reverted the Turbo Building update. If you look closely, though, you'll notice that this change actually raised the skill gap for PC players - which is why it was adjusted so quickly.

As it stands, it looks like our only way out of this mech hell is to wait for Season 11. Fingers crossed they don't replace the mech with flying dragons or something like that.
