Keemstar took to Twitter to announce the return of Friday Fortnite with funding from Faze Clan.
Anyone who has been following competitive Fortnite since the beginning knows that Friday Fortnite was where it all started. This was appointment Twitch viewing the summer after Fortnite released, and helped vault several streamers into the limelight.
In many ways, Friday Fortnite paved the way for the current competitive Fortnite scene, serving as an unofficial test for community interest in competitive Fortnite. It wasn't long before Epic started hosting tournaments of their own.
The Friday Fortnite competitions ended when Epic started hosting their events on Friday as well - a move that seemed to intentionally draw players from the Friday Fortnite pool.
The competitive landscape is different now, though, and competitive Fortnite has shifted to the weekend qualifiers - leaving an open slot on Friday night.
Today, Keemstar announced that the Friday Fortnite tournaments would be making a return thanks to funding by FaZe Clan.

Those who don't know what's going on between FaZe and Tfue can get a rundown of it here. Basically, Tfue is suing FaZe Clan to get out of his contract.
FaZe, for their part, claims that they've only taken $60,000 from Tfue over the course of their agreement. As you can see, the gaming organization is putting this money up for grabs through the Friday Fortnite tournament.
As we mentioned, Fortnite Friday was responsible for catapulting the careers of a lot of now-popular streamers in the Fortnite community. Tfue was one of them, and Keemstar has mentioned that Tfue never would have been invited to compete in this event had it not been for his affiliation with FaZe Clan.
Regardless of the drama, it's always nice to have another competitive Fortnite tournament to look forward to.
The old ruleset for Friday Fortnite used to be duo "pub stomping." Two teams would load into a public match on the same squad and compete to see who could get the most kills.
Private matches are available now, though, so it might make more sense for Keemstar and the guys to change the original format to be more in line with official Fortnite rules. This would also incentivise more serious competitors to see the event as worthwhile practice for the World Cup.
