We're getting our first taste of Season 8 with the earthquake tremors across the Fortnite map.
Last week we reported that data found in the game files revealed the transitional event between Season 7 and 8 as an earthquake. Yesterday, players started to get their first taste of what's to come.
Twitter started to buzz as players posted clips of the map shaking, accompanied by a rumbling sound. This is a clear indication that the first stages of the Fortnite earthquake are happening - similar to other map-changing events we've seen.

This is only the beginning, though. As Lucas7Yoshi_ revealed, the shaking we felt is only a small taste of what we can expect before Season 8 hits. According to him, the real thing will be seven times more powerful.

We can only guess how the map is going to change once the full force of the earthquake hits. Areas will probably be cut in half or outright destroyed, with new locations taking their place.
One place that I think might get hit pretty hard is Lonely Lodge. I like landing here in solos and duos, but it's been in the game since launch and has never seen any major changes.
I'd venture a guess that "construction" or "new" or whatever you call it in Tilted Towers will come falling to the ground as well. Those construction workers are never off the clock.
Part of the drama surrounding the Season 8 release involves the Katowice Royale. This high-profile tournament will take place on the first day of Season 8 - forcing pro players to battle on a map they've never seen before.
