We're tuning up the Events Power Ranking system to more accurately reflect your skill level! See what's changed:
In February 2020, we created a system that automatically ranked player skill over all historical events. We named that system "Power Rankings", and deployed the update shortly thereafter
Little did we know it would soon become one of the most popular features among our competitive community
Power Ranking changes
The main change we're making with this update is adding more steps between placements. Previously, in an event with a 1x multiplier. a top 100 would receive 225 points and the next jump would happen at top 90– for 250 points
Now, there are small steps that occur at each placement in between the previous steps. In the new system, 100 still receives 225 points, but 99 gets 227.5, 98 gets 230, and so forth
The result is everyone's PR inflating. Players that placed high but missed key steps in previous events will see more inflation than others
We made this change in collaboration with Manu and OA Manu Scrims. As we look to the future of competitive, supporting the scrim community and offering better representation to the entry and intermediary level player base is a top priority
Leaderboard views
Another priority is to display the data we manage in more beautiful ways. In regards to PR, we've heard your calls to add more leaderboard views and added "Seasonal," "Yearly," and "Lifetime" leaderboards. All with no decay
It doesn't end just there. As we look into the future, there is so much we want to accomplish within the Fortnite Events ecosystem
While it's too early to make any promises, just know that we continue to quietly work in the background to make you the most awesome stat tracking products. Follow us on Twitter for more insights and sneak peeks into the future of Fortnite Tracker
