A dangerous new weapon and more news on the upcoming event. Here’s everything you need to know about today’s update.

Fortnite is starting to feel like Chapter 1 again. Epic Games have been on a roll so far in Season 7 with fresh content dropping almost every single week.

The v17.21 patch is just a small one, but still manages to introduce an exciting new weapon amongst other changes. Let’s take a look:

Plasma Cannon

Alien invaders continue to up the ante and the IO have responded by creating a powerful new piece of kit. The Legendary Plasma Cannon wreaks havoc on enemies, builds, and anything else silly enough to get in its way.

This unique gun shoots plasma balls surrounded by an electrical dome. The balls will slowly move forward, dealing significant damage to opponents or vehicles and knocking them back. Any buildings or player-built structures in its path will be incinerated.

You can find the Plasma Cannon in chests and IO crates, or craft one by combining a Legendary Pistol and an Alien Nanite. They can only fire five shots and do not recharge, so use them wisely.

Event Timer

The event countdown leaked in last week’s v17.20 patch has now appeared in the lobby screen and also in-game, in the sky above the middle of the map. It is set to end in a little over 10 days, which would be the weekend of August 7.

It is still unclear what this event will entail, though it looks like someone or something will be visiting us from the Mothership. People have previously predicted an Ariana Grande concert, but this currently seems less probable.

Abductors and Map Changes

A new Alien Abductor Ship has arrived, hovering over the center of the Island. Additionally, Slurpy Swamp and Corny Complex join Coral Castle on the list of POIs to be abducted.

According to leaker @HYPEX, they will become zero gravity zones while being abducted. Check out an example of how they may look in the post above. This will potentially all happen as part of the event.
