As part of a class action lawsuit settlement, Fortnite players are set to receive over $26 million in compensation
While Fortnite Battle Royale has never utilized a random-loot box system, its Save the World counterpart most certainly has. And when players hit Epic Games with a class action lawsuit, the game developers were forced to change how Loot Llamas worked
After January of 2019, players would be able to see what was inside of the Loot Llama before choosing whether or not to purchase the gift box. The change quelled initial concerns of the plaintiffs -- but they would still seek retroactive compensation in a 2 year long lawsuit
The lawsuit reached a tipping point this week when Epic Games announced plans to settle
We're dropping 1000 V-Bucks into the accounts of all players globally who bought a random item Loot Llama in STW before we stopped offering them. No action needed, if you purchased this item you should see the V-Bucks in your account over the next few days https://t.co/l4VR5MTZl9

In the announcement, players were informed that, if eligible, they would be greeted with an additional 1,000 Vbucks in their accounts
To be eligible, players must have purchased at least one Loot Llama prior to January 25th, 2019, when the contents were unknown until post-purchased
More players set to receive Vbucks
According to Fortnite_STW on Twitter, more users than originally advertised are receiving the 1,000 Vbuck airdrop. If you simply completed the tutorial for Save the World prior to January 25th, 2019, you’re set to receive Vbucks
As long as you’ve completed the tutorial for STW before January 25, 2019, you should be receiving the 1000 vbucks within the next few days! pic.twitter.com/wB524SXtRF

Regardless, the January 25th 2019 date is a hard deadline. If you started playing after the aforementioned date, you’re out of luck on this one
Another bonus is available for all our Rocket League players out there. Since Epic Games acquired Psyonix, the game developers for Rocket League who also used a similar randomized key and case system in the past, they are taking preemptive steps to remedy any future suits
You’ll receive 1,000 credits in Rocket League if you purchased any amount of keys and opened crates. Rocket League credits hold similar value to Vbucks; both drops are enough to buy the games’ respective seasonal passes
As most weren’t adversely impacted by the plaintiff’s claims, this Vbuck drop is nothing more than a freebie
If you feel as though the random crate system in either Rocket League or Fortnite lead to an adverse impact, you can file a claim here for up to $50 or 13,500 Vbucks in awards
A $26 million fund has been earmarked to pay out the aforementioned claims alongside attorney fees. Just a note -- minors filing for contract disaffirmation law will have any associated Epic accounts closed as a result
