Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2 is almost here and people are speculating that a brand new material could be getting added.

Many fans have suggested that this coming season of Fortnite will be make or break for the Battle Royale giant. With all the hype of the black hole event and the launch of Chapter 2 quickly being lost amidst a four month content dry spell, people think we need something big to reignite interest.

Well if recent rumours turn out to be true, then we certainly are in for a pretty huge change. Players have guessed that a new type of material could be introduced for Season 2. The standard wood, brick and metal builds are one of the very few things that have remained unaltered since day 1, so this would definitely shake things up.

The reasoning behind this theory is based on some peculiar goings on down at the “Eye Land”. Fortnite leakers discovered that a selection of props that look to be from the lodge on the central island are set to turn into gold. It seems that you are unable to destroy these golden props.

If a new gold material was added, we can only guess at what its qualities may be. Some people have suggested that it would have an incredible amount of HP, or even be completely unbreakable. Others predict that it could have melting properties or function completely differently to the existing 3 types.

Discussing the potential update, Ali “SypherPK” Hassan theorised “maybe it’s a legendary drop, that you can get from crates, and you’d get like 50 gold mats”. This does make sense, if they were to add a material that is insanely overpowered in comparison to the others, it seems unlikely that you would be able to just farm up as much as you want. Tyler “Ninja” Blevins reacted as just about anyone would to the news, with a mixture of excitement and confusion.

Raising a clear issue with a fully unbreakable material, Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar joked “Find me in a cone end game with a gold roof”. I very much doubt that Epic would add anything completely indestructible, but even something with a few times more strength than metal would take a long time to break.

At this point this is all just speculation. The Fortnite community have been right on these sorts of things in the past, but also wildly far off on other occasions. One thing is for sure, this addition would be both intriguing and no doubt highly controversial, especially within the competitive scene.
