New leaks point to Fortnite Arena Squads entering the game in the near future - potentially replacing Trios.

Fortnite's competitive mode - Arena - has experienced several format changes since its release. The only constant has been Solo Mode, but we've also seen Duo and Trios thrown into the mix.

According to game files mined by @Hypex, update v10.30 added Arena Squads to the game.

Arena Squads

We've seen every iteration of Arena Mode except for Squads, so it makes sense that Epic would release this mode eventually. If I had to guess, it would replace the current Trio Mode, which isn't a hot take by any means.

Since Season X is winding to a close and the Fortnite Champion Series is underway, it's fair to assume we probably won't see Arena Squads until the FCS is over and Season 11 starts.

It's interesting to note that Duo Arena is still in the game files. Hypex clarified with a later tweet, saying that Duo Arena has been in the game files since it came out and there's no news as to when it will return.

Duo Arena is my favorite game mode, and a lot of the competitive community seems to agree. Arena Squads presents an interesting challenge when you consider the number of structures that will be built during end-game fights - especially when you factor in the ability to reboot squadmates.

For me, finding a regular Trio team to play with has been challenging. More often than not, I'll have one or three other people to play with, so Trio Arena sessions don't last very long.

For that reason, I'm excited for Arena Squads to come out.
