Fans of Fortnite have been advocating for Epic to remove the mech since Season 10 opened. What if Epic can't remove the mech? This theory suggests the BRUTE plays an integral role in the plot of Season X.

At this point, it's becoming clear that Epic isn't going to remove the mech until Season X ends. They've been trying to justify the inclusion of the mech to the player base while making "balance changes" to it with every patch - all of which points to the fact that the Mech isn't going anywhere.

Epic made it clear why they had included the mech in Fortnite. Bad players were able to get more kills and wins.

The only problem is that bad players don't seem to like the mech either. They get killed by it just as much - if not more - than good players do.

Recent Balance Changes

The recent BRUTE nerfs were well-received. Epic addressed one of the bigger problems with the mech - farming - and nerfed the ability to shoot 10 rockets that blast through turbo-building.

The BRUTE has never been satisfying to use, but the post-nerf mech is nearly a mobility-only vehicle. The mech stinks now, and most players are happy about that.

If Epic nerfed the mech into the ground - to the point where it can be more of a liability than an asset - then why keep it in the game at all?

Well, a tweet from this weekend may have given us an answer.

The BRUTE Plotline

On August 23, the official Fortnite social media accounts posted a cryptic image of our old friend the Visitor.

The primary theory for Season X is that the Visitor is messing around with the timeline of the Fortnite world. He's suspended the comet in mid-air, built Rift Beacons, and continues to systematically change the Fortnite map.

This image shows the Visitor with the reflection of a BRUTE in his mask.

Clearly, the visitor has something to do with these mechs. He's either building them or deconstructing them - possibly for the parts he uses to create the Rift Beacons.

All of this points to one conclusion: Epic can't remove the mechs because they have something to do with the Fortnite Season X plot.

Epic is clearly committed to their in-game lore, which is why they are so stubborn to remove the mech.

It's not because they aren't listening. It's because the mech is going to play a larger role than we realize...

Hopefully...
