Popular Fortnite pro player Vinny1x has left TSM and retired from competitive Fortnite, revealing that his drive and passion for the game are gone.
It seems like so far this year, organisations have been dropping their Fortnite talent left, right and centre. However, this time around, it was Vinny “Vinny1x” Gilligan that decided to split from TSM, in a somewhat sudden fashion.
I want all of you to know that I've decided to leave TSM. I no longer find fortnite fun or competitive. I (cont) https://t.co/WMir7Yfx97

Vinny broke the news to fans on Twitter, telling them “I no longer find Fortnite fun or competitive”. This is a disappointing blow to the competitive community, he and Anthony “ZexRow” Colandro have been one of the staple duos of the scene for a long time.
Speaking live from DreamHack Anaheim in an interview with Fortnite analysts Ballatw and ShyoWager, Vinny’s TSM teammate and FNCS Squads partner Mack “MackWood” Aesoph gave his thoughts on the decision. He explained that Vinny had travelled with them to Anaheim and been expected to play, but on the morning of the tournament informed them he was quitting.
MackWood reflected the thoughts of the community when he said, “Vinny’s a champion…I think it’s sad, cause when you think of TSM, you think of Vinny and Zex”. Support has also been pouring in on Twitter, with pros from around the world sharing the love.
You were a really good guy and you are super fun to be around. All things gotta come to a end and you just lost your drive. GL in the future ??

At the end of the day, if you’re not enjoying the game anymore, it’s always going to be hard to perform at the highest level. It seems like for Vinny that desire to be the best has been fading for a while, and he has finally made the decision to focus on what makes him happy. We wish him all the best going forward and taking his next steps outside of Fortnite.
