As we gear up for the PS4 Celebration Cup, take a moment to brush over the event rules and regulations
To much of the community’s surprise, the next cash-based Fortnite tournament will not be dominated by PC players. Instead, console (more specifically PS4) grinders take the main stage for their stake at a $1,000,000 prize pool in this weekend’s “PS4 Celebration Cup.” Here’s everything you need to know:
Date, Time, & Scheduling
Day 1: Feb 15th
Day 2: Feb 16th
Time: Event starts between 5-7PM based on your local time zone, and will last for 3 hours each day
Europe: 5-8GMT
NA-East: 7-10EST
NA-West: 5-8PST
Prizing & Distribution
As the title suggests, there will be $1 million up for grabs. Distribution between regions are similar to the previous events, with a lion’s share going to Europe and NA-East. Full prizes and payouts can be found below:

The most populous region, Europe, starts paying out $200 once you get into the top 1500, whereas the money doesn’t start until top 500 in NA-West. This, of course, is due to harsher competition in more populous regions
If you’re reading this thinking that there isn’t a chance to make money, don’t fret. Day 1, the qualifying round into day 2 (and subsequent cash prizes), is packed full of rewards. Finishing in the top 50% of players nets you a “Take Cover” spray, while top 25% and 5% places is good for a “Wild Accent” pickaxe and “Tango” outfit respectively
In-game rewards are typically dropped within 30 minutes after queues close, so look out for any rewards shortly after the tournament ends. Like every other tournament, the PS4 Celebration Cup is completely free to play, and the odds of winning some cosmetic swag is pretty high!
Takeaway
Regardless if your skill, if you’re on PS4 - PLAY IN THIS EVENT! Competitive game-modes that are exclusive to console are extremely rare. The last console only tournament was the Xbox cup, which went down in July of 2019. Only this time, you PS4 players are blessed with in-game drops regardless of being one of the top placers
No excuses, it’s grind time!
