Epic Games have confirmed that the DreamHack Anaheim event will use the current v11.40 build.

When it was revealed that the new Fortnite season 2 was expected to start on February 20, people were left feeling concerned about the upcoming DreamHack Anaheim LAN. The tournament takes place from the February 21 – 23.

In the past, Fortnite have been known to release huge game changing updates right before major competitive events, so it wouldn’t have been surprising if players were forced to play on the latest patch. This would have meant adjusting to possible map changes, new weapons, items and forms of mobility.

Not to mention that by the new Chaos Physics engine will be in action by then, which could cause a number of issues, from bugs and glitches to simply feeling different. This would have been a nightmare for players and been terrible for competitive integrity.

Fortunately though, there is no need to worry. The official Fortnite Competitive Twitter account has announced that DreamHack Anaheim will run on the v11.40 build. This was definitely for the best and the decision has been well received by the community.

Hopefully this is a further indication that Epic Games are looking to take competitive Fortnite more seriously in 2020, and also that the next few updates are going to be pretty big.
