After leakers noticed that the Season 1 end date had been pushed back, the developers have confirmed when Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 will be starting.
Recently, it was discovered that the Season 1 end date in the API had been changed from February 6 to February 20. This led most people to believe that the incredibly long season would be stretching for yet another couple of weeks.
The Fortnite team have now made official comment in a blog post titled “New Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2 Release Date”. Not only does the statement confirm that Season 2 is expected to launch Thursday, February 20, but also that some big changes are coming.

Epic revealed that “beginning with the release of the 11.50 update in early February, Fortnite will be moving to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics engine”. They explained that “At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite”, but no doubt this means that they have some huge plans for the future.
The Fortnite team acknowledged that there will likely be some bumps along the way with the new Engine, but I think we can safely say we are used to that. They didn’t reveal too much about Season 2 but closed their blog post by saying that a “new two-week event” will take place before our current season ends. Stay tuned for more updates.
