In a recent press release, gaming organization Luminosity issued a statement regarding player misconduct
Earlier in the week, competitive Fortnite player LG Destroy was under fire after repeated allegations of sexism made waves
This guy is representing your org? Very unprofessional and sad to the fortnite community @luminosity @stevemaida pic.twitter.com/6AH6z7CbUT

Today, an official spokesman at Luminosity released a press statement to address concerns and finalize their investigation
— Luminosity Gaming (@Luminosity) December 31, 2019
The statement reads, “On December 29th, we were made aware of an exchange between one of our Fortnite members, Destroy and another streamer. These comments were discriminatory in nature and don’t accurately represent our values as an organization at Luminosity Gaming. After investigating the matter, we have decided to issue an undisclosed but meaningful fine to Destroy, which will be donated to charity. We’d like to apologize to anyone affected by these comments and to our fans.”
Destroy made a final comment on the matter, stating “I accept full responsibility for my words. Regardless of the circumstances, trash talk or not, I need to hold myself to a higher standard. Thank you to LG for being fair. Onwards and upwards from here.”
Luminosity responding with a fine is a first for the Fortnite scene

Earlier this year, Fortnite pro Emad was released from his contract with E11 Gaming after being “exposed” for similar trash talk. The Fortnite community didn’t take that too well, as the general consensus was that the punishment didn’t fit the crime. The situation with Luminosity and Destroy feels quite familiar - I am glad that there’s a more reasonable solution
Don’t worry too much about Emad, though. He was recently signed to TSM and is on an upwards trajectory with his streaming & content creator career
We're thrilled to announce our two newest signings to #TSMFortnite, @EmadGG, and @TSMCrue! Please welcome them aboard ??https://t.co/ly5HR4F2bA pic.twitter.com/EutFJeiuxV

Hopefully this can serve as a learning lesson for all parties involved, and the community as a whole. Trash talk is a healthy part of Esports but pushing the boundaries is risky business. Remember that your words may have an effect on others; an effect that lasts longer than you might think
