Shortly after downtime ended for Fortnite patch v11.30, players began to report issues with editing. Luckily it seems like Epic Games have managed to get it fixed in just a couple of hours.

The highly anticipated v11.30 update is now live and it brought more than just snow and Christmas decorations. Fortnite fans on Twitter and Reddit quickly discovered something had changed with editing, and it didn’t go down well.

Players were experiencing the problem in both Battle Royale and Creative modes. For some reason when editing, pieces would randomly flash red and prevent you from editing. This caused people to accidentally pre-edit structures instead. The issue was especially prevalent when attempting triple edits, for example editing through a floor and cone before finally placing a wall and editing through that.

Fortunately, the developers have responded to this particular bug at record speeds. After acknowledging earlier in the day that they were aware of the issue, they have now confirmed that it has been sorted.

This is great to see as editing is a pretty huge part of the game and for many it would have been almost unplayable with this bug. In the past Epic have been criticsized for being slow to address important problems or ignoring them all together. Hopefully this incident sets a precedent going forward. But for now, get back to editing on kids!
