With Winter Royale just around the corner, it’s time to take a look at the top competition across the globe
Winter Royale was a seasonal event taking place around this time last year, where the best solos around the world grinded across a multi-day stretch to secure a spot in a million dollar tournament. Winter Royale is making a comeback for a second iteration, signaling that this might turn into a yearly tradition
Only this time, Winter Royale will be structured under a duo format. Not only that, but three individual tournaments spanning between December 20-22nd will each have a prize pool of 5 million dollars. That’s 15 million up for grabs, all in one weekend. If you’d like all the details, click here
The pro community has long speculated a duos reboot of Winter Royale. So much so, that we previously covered a hoax where a large portion of the community was bamboozled into thinking that Winter Royale Duos had been leaked
… And now it is finally here! Considering the prize pool, it will rank as one of Fortnite’s top Esports events. Many Fortnite players have already arranged their teams in preparation for the duos announcement and are going on a “team reveal” spree

Mongraal and Benjyfishy first paired up during FNCS Trios with Mitr0. For the previous duo event (World Cup), Mongraal linked up with Mitr0 while Benjyfishy and MrSavageM were a team. After their massive success during trios, it makes sense as to why these Brits have gravitated towards one another

Bugha and Stretch have been friends for as long as Fortnite has been around. They teamed up for most events, including FNCS Trios and Squads. Our list would be incomplete if we didn’t include the tournament crusher and solo world cup champion

Cented and Edgey are pro Fortnite players competing in NA-West. If you exclusively keep up to date with the EU or NA-East competitive scene, let me be the first to tell you just how much you are missing out. They are no less than machines who have absolutely dominated the region since FNCS Trios was a thing. If you take a look at their previous placements, a majority of their rankings were first place. Seriously, it was uncommon to see them not win any given tournament
I expect this trend to continue as Cented and Edgey have been developing chemistry longer than any other team in the region, or world for that matter
