Epic Games are still keeping us in the dark this season when it comes to updates, but a recent tweet indicates that the next patch could go live on Wednesday.

After complaints over a lack of content changes, performance issues and no update at all last week, it seems that a new Fortnite patch may be imminent. A post from the @FNCompetitve Twitter account announced that this week’s Platform Cash Cup would be rescheduled for OCE and ASIA server regions. The timing of the Wednesday Cash Cup in these areas syncs up perfectly with the usual Fortnite update schedule. Shout out to Leo9991 on Reddit for noticing this.

Cash Cups in OCE and ASIA have often been postponed for this reason in the past, and this likely means that the patch will require some period of downtime. With rumours circulating over the last couple of weeks of a big Christmas update, Fortnite fans will be hopeful that this patch packs a punch.

Festive skins have already started to appear in the Item Shop, with the brand-new Globe Shaker outfit being followed up by Christmas classics Nog Ops and Yuletide Ranger. Fortnite data miners have already discovered files suggesting that snow will cover the map, plus winter themed items like Chiller Grenades are set to make a return.

Some players are still eagerly awaiting the addition of the updated Heavy Assault Rifle and Scoped Assault Rifle weapons that were leaked a couple of weeks ago. It’s possible that with the Fortnite Champion Series Finals coming up this weekend, that the developers will decide to hold off one more week before making any significant changes, but fingers crossed right?

Performance wise, Epic Games have confirmed that they are working on a fix for the hugely frustrating controller input delay bug in Creative. They said that it would be addressed in both this week’s update and a subsequent one, so Creative mode grinders can pray that things will be back to normal soon.
