Fortnite’s Championship Series, which runs through the month of November, sparked controversy within the NA-West region

As week 2 of FCS wound down, NA-West was the final region to compete. After a stellar six game performance, Liquid Cented, NRG EpikWhale, NRG Edgey, and Rehx came out on top with 110 points… only they didn’t actually win. Due to a critical bug, their 5th game didn’t count which deducted 18 points from their total. According to Fortnite, the squad only accumulated 92 points, a single point short of first place

The bug in question is not new by any means. If a user on your team fails to connect to the server (when the server shoots your team into the pre-game lobby), your team will not get any points for the entire match. It was a problem during both the World Cup duos and FCS trios events, yet still hasn’t been solved

Cented and EpikWhale both tweeted at Epic as soon as they realized the error. No problem. It took place during the finals, with only one private lobby running at a time. Since there’s a hefty chunk of change involved, $9,000 up top to be exact, a simple miscalculation should be manually fixed. Only it wasn’t

As the days passed, it became increasingly clear that Epic either wasn’t aware of the situation or stood by the (incorrect) final standings. Just today, Cented posted that his FCS payout wasn’t adjusted, as his payout represented that of 2nd place

For reference, 2nd place’s payout is $4,000, less than half of first place

CLG player Psalm chimed in, affirming just how unfair the situation was

I give Epic the benefit of the doubt on this one. This seems like an obvious oversight issue, so hopefully offering more exposure to the problem will lead to a resolution. Regardless of how Epic reacts, one thing’s for certain: Ghost Sean’s squad doesn’t mind

Do you think Epic will patch the glitch and pay Cented’s squad accordingly? Let us know on Twitter
