With the Fortnite Championship Series kicking off next week, let's take a look at today’s best and worst performers

Fragger: Tshchinken, Stompy, Aqua, X8

Stompy and Tshinken are arguably one of the most consistent duos coming out of Europe, so seeing them reunite for FNCS in such an explosive fashion really makes my heart warm. After Stompy was expected to part ways with Tshinken and team up with Benjyfishy and Mongraal, deciding to stick with his old trio seems to be paying massive dividends. Hopefully today’s 2nd place finish gives the squad a much needed momentum boost going into FNCS week 1

Lagger: Bugha, Thwifo, Cloud, Zyfa

After it became clear that Zayt and Saf were not comfortable playing with Bugha if he were to stream the event, he scrambled to put a somewhat decent squad together. As a result, his performance was, to put it nicely, subpar

The end result? A lackluster 16th place finish, accruing only 23 points in 6 games. 16th place might seem decent, but considering only 25 teams play on Sunday, it’s below average. Below average for someone that many believe is the best in the world just won’t cut it. An extra week of practice will do this team well - that is if they decide to rough it out and play together for another week

Fragger: 72hrs, Chap, Vivid, CizLucky

The 3/4ths Liquid roster was a fan favorite, and they showed up big time. Despite having the most victories in the region, they were knocked into second place by one point. For reference, both first and second place in Europe were able to secure 2 dubs a piece. This roster has been practicing both on and off stream for a considerable amount of time, which further reinforces the notion that practice makes perfect

Lagger: Mitr0, Falconly, K1nzell, Crr

Mitr0 had unexpectedly topped the semifinals for the warm up event - and made a point that Mongraal and Benjyfishy were not the sole reason for success during FNCS Trios

Despite this, the run wouldn’t be carried over into the finals. The opposite, actually. Mitr0’s squad barely put any points on the board and finished near dead last. Half the games saw their team die off spawn. To add insult to injury, they got zero placement points. Given that placement points begin to dole out at 8th place and these guys had 6 opportunities to get there, the performance is nothing short than embarrassing

But even more embarrassing is the fact that his old teammates didn’t even make it to the finals. Mongraal and Benjyfishy, teamed up with Endretta and Nayte, saw a run that didn’t pass the semifinals. 35th place (min 25th to qualify) with 0 victory royales over 10 games was the final result. So, who’s the real lagger here?
