Now that everyone has had time to fully experience the new season, we thought we would take a look at some of our favorite aspects of Fortnite Chapter 2.

5. Farming Materials

It seems like maxing out your materials is a lot easier than before, especially with brick and metal. Without any patch notes it’s hard to say what changes, if any, have been made to the farming rate, but you definitely get more bang for your buck. Pickaxing cars gives you more metal than they used to and some of the massive boulders can get you a ton of brick. This is just as well, because with all the Grenades and RPGs in every match, you’re going to need plenty of builds.

4. The Map

After the horrors of the Season X map, plagued by dodgy rift zones to the point where everyone landed in the same 3 places every game, the new island makes a great change. It’s a nice step back and the simplicity reminds us of the original Battle Royale island. The map is very balanced, which leads to an even spread of players across all areas. It will be interesting to see how Epic handle updates, as it would be a shame to see it become too clustered.

3. Fishing

At first what seemed to most like a gimmicky new mechanic has actually turned out to be a very important part of the game. The majority of players still underestimate how handy it is to have a few Floppers or Slurp Fish in your pocket. Fishing basically means that if you are ever in desperate need of heals, you can find some within a few attempts, and you might even pull out a gold Pump. With fishing spots all over the map, this is definitely a crucial part of the game and a cool addition.

2. 100% Chest Spawns

This was a change that many Fortnite fans had been requesting for a very long time. It is one of the few decisions made by Epic that almost no one is complaining about. The fact that chests are guaranteed to spawn significantly lessens RNG and makes the early game a lot more predictable. Once you have learned the chest locations in various spots, you can land much more confidently, knowing that you will at least get some sort of weapon. Be careful though, it’s the same for your enemies!

1. The Loot Pool

Our favorite part about Fortnite Chapter 2 is the updated loot pool. This is the most balanced set of items that we have seen for so long, barring the excess of explosives. By cleaning up the loot pool and removing a lot of the less useful items, early game looting is a lot nicer of an experience. You will usually get a full loadout quite quickly and not struggle to find a Shotgun off the rip. It is certain that more items will be added, and this is fine as long as it is done in the right way. If they can keep the amount of Assault Rifles, Shotguns and SMGs consistent, but also sprinkle in some mobility items and alternatives to the explosives, the loot pool could become even better.
