A new LTM concept from Reddit places one player as a shooter and one as a builder. This idea could be a fresh take on the Fortnite experience.
Epic is constantly adding new LTMs to Fortnite, but hardly any of them truly feel fresh. Most of them limit you to specific guns or change an element of the Fortnite mechanics, but few transform the game into a new playable experience.
Off the top of my head, I can only think of three LTMs that I enjoyed playing over the base Fortnite game: Arsenal, Wick's Bounty, and The Floor is Lava.
The Floor is Lava seems to be out of the rotation for now due to the problem with Tilted Town. You can't build in that area, which means players would be stuck hopping on the lava.
Well, Idavoiduinrl on Reddit has a suggestion that could add a new layer to Fortnite. He calls it: Support Duos.
In this game mode, one player can build while the other person fights. It's as simple as that, with a few balance changes.
In my opinion, one player should be designated as the shooter and the other should be the builder without letting anyone switch. It seems like switching would allow for some abuse of the mechanic.
Just in case one player is better at building, I'd let the players swap within 30 seconds of landing from the Battle Bus and lock them in place after that.
I also disagree about builders being invincible. If the builder dies, the shooter is on their own. If the shooter dies, the builder has to use traps and grenades until they find a Reboot Van.
Another small change I'd make is in the pickaxe department. I'd let the shooter farm, but he or she can't pick up any materials. That way, they can gather materials for the builder to use for them.
Apart from those small changes, I'm all-in on this game mode. I think this would be a welcome addition to what has become a relatively stale rotation of LTMs.
