The Fortnite community is split on the most recent hotfix that removed the Combat Shotgun. Take a look at what some of the biggest names in Fortnite think about the change.
The removal of the Combat Shotgun could be one of the more divisive changes Epic has made to the game.
Anyone who frequents the r/FortniteCompetitive subreddit knows that the competitive community has been anti-Combat for a while, now. Objectively, it's easy to see why.
I love the Combat Shotgun, and so do a lot of other people. The reason so many people like it, though, is the reason it's no longer in the game.
The gun does everything well. The only drawback to the Combat is that it can't one-shot - a feature only available with the Pump. Apart from that, there's no reason a player wouldn't want to use it.
I completely understand why the Combat was taken out of Fortnite, and I think it was a good move for the competitive state of the game. That doesn't mean I won't miss it.
Goodnight, sweet prince.

Combat and Drum Shotgun Vaulted!— LG SypherPK (@SypherPK) September 5, 2019
OH MY GOD...
Yesterday's hotfix that vaulted the Combat came out of nowhere and surprised the entire Fortnite community. Streamers like SypherPK were stunned.
unvault the purple and legendary pump— cloakzy (@cloakzy) September 6, 2019
Cloakzy suggested the return of the purple and gold Pump Shotguns, which might be a stretch for Epic. While these guns weren't as powerful as the Combat, they certainly accounted for a lot of one-hit deaths. Be careful what you wish for, Cloak.

Pump meta make competitive more enjoyable— Tfue (@TTfue) September 5, 2019
Tfue has been an outspoken opponent of the Combat Shotgun. He even said that the state of competitive Fortnite was enjoyable apart from the inclusion of the Combat and the presence of the BRUTE.
Now, Tfue should be generally happy with the direction that competitive Fortnite is heading.
The gun is the easiest weapon to use in the game and has 0 skill gap?— Ninja (@Ninja) September 5, 2019
Bizzle was one of the few Fortnite pros who supported the Combat once it was removed, Tweeting, "Am I the only person who liked the combat?? Sorry I don't like getting aim assisted for 200 with a pump."
Ninja and Bizzle went at it a bit after that, and Bizzle responded by saying, "I would 10-0 you with a combat kid."

Several content creators and pro players like Nickmercs, Bizzle, Ali-A, and others were disappointed that the Combat was removed, showing the divide in the community.
