Fortnite's second tournament is only days away. Take a look at the format, rules, schedule, and more for the first Fortnite Champion Series.

Epic will be hosting the first Fortnite Champion series this weekend, starting on August 17. They posted a blog on the topic, but there was one element that was missing: comments on the mech.

Right now, it looks like the BRUTE is going to be live during the tournament. Let's see how this plays out.

Tournament Format

The Format of the Champion Series will work a lot like that of the World Cup.

Round 1 will begin with all players in Champion League, fighting to qualify for Round two. Like the World Cup qualifiers, all teams will have three hours or ten matches to score as many points as they can.

Unlike the World Cup, though, there will be three stages to this tournament. Once you pass Round 2, you'll have to queue up for Round 3 to make it to the Season Finals.

Epic is also rewarding consistency this time around. The teams from each region who have the most cumulative points across the five Round 3 weekly events will also qualify for Stage 2 - or the Season Finals.

Another difference from the World Cup is that each region will have its own tournament. The Champion Series is entirely online, so you won't have to worry about placing at the very top of the leaderboard every week.

Season Finals

The Season finals will include four heats, each lasting three hours. You can play a maximum of six matches during each heat.

At the end of each heat, the top players will advance to the Grand Finals until 32 teams are established from each region.

During the Grand Finals, the 32 teams will compete for rewards, just as they have in other tournament finals in the past.

Schedule

The tournament will kick off on August 17 and run through September 22. It appears as though Epic will be hosting a stage of the tournament each week until the Grand Finals.
