Epic Games is getting a lot of heat for failing to listen to the community. Here's what the Fortnite competitive community really wants to see in the game.

Fortnite Season 10 is all about the BRUTE outrage. The r/FortniteBR and r/FortniteCompetitive subreddits are nearly interchangeable at this point, as the majority of players constantly complain about the overpowered mechs killing them every game.

In many ways, the additions of the BRUTE overshadowed a lot of requests from die-hard Fortnite players. At this point, we'd all be satisfied if Epic removed the mech and ensured us that the Tilted Town experiment won't eclipse the whole map.

I'm a frequent visitor of both Fortnite subs, so I feel as though I have a sense of what the competitive player base really wants.

Of course, vaulting the BRUTE goes without saying. I'm not going to waste any more time complaining about this problem - at least right now.

Here are five of the most commonly requested additions and changes the competitive Fortnite community has been requesting.

FoV Slider

Epic owned Rocket League has a FOV slider that warns increased FOV will reduce motion sickness ?????? A bit contradictory, Epic. from r/FortniteCompetitive

The competitive community really wants an FoV slider in the game. The days of stretched resolution are over. Epic cited a number of reasons why they took it out, but it probably boiled down to one thing: their game didn't look as good.

An FoV slider isn't going to fix this problem, but it would - at least - even the FoV playing field between console and PC players.

As an Xbox player, I never experienced the FoV craze so I'm not too passionate about this one. Still, most of the competitive community will mention this first if you ask them what they want to see in Fortnite.

Arena Duos

Arena Duos was a staple of the Arena format. It's so crucial to competitive Fortnite that it was one of the two formats played at the Fortnite World Cup.

The removal of Arena Duos at the start of Season 10 doesn't make much sense. I can't even come up with a reason why Epic would make this switch. Maybe Epic wanted to limit the number of competitive game modes to keep their Arena player base together? That's all I can think of at this point.

Arena Solos and Trios are both fun game modes, but it feels as though there's a void where Arena Duos should be.

De-Ranking in Arena

enter image description here

This one is simple and easy to understand: without de-ranking, Arena Mode won't be truly competitive.

Nearly every competitive game has some sort of de-ranking system - at least at the top-levels of play. We need de-ranking in Arena Mode, even if it's limited to Champion League.

I think Epic might be scared that casual players will grind until they hit Champion League and stop playing Arena until the next season. If this is the case, though, these players don't deserve to be in the league that totes itself as "the best of the best."

Pre-Edits as a Setting

Making pre-editing a setting is another quality-of-life change that the competitive community has been requesting for a long time.

Casual players will benefit from this change as well - even if they don't know it.

Have you ever been quick-editing through a cone or ramp, only to find that you accidentally pre-edited a window in your wall? A pre-editing setting would fix this problem and others like it.

This request might not be at the top of the list, but it seems like an extremely easy addition.

When you consider all of the balance changes and item updates Epic makes, a simple pre-editing setting seems like an easy way to gain some positive feedback from the competitive Fortnite community.

Separate Loot Pools

Tilted has its own loot pool but competitive doesn’t from r/FortniteCompetitive

This is probably the most-requested change from the Fortnite competitive players: separate loot pools for Arena Mode.

Team Rumble received an update when the Boom Bow was in the game, removing it from that mode alone - still no change to Arena.

Now, Tilted Town has a separate loot pool, but Arena can't get one.

Think about this: if the BRUTE wasn't in Arena Mode, would it be that big of a problem? Probably not.

There are several items that the competitive community wants out of Arena Mode, but they largely want predictable loot tables.

Alas, the Fortnite developers seem dedicated to keeping all modes the same in terms of loot. I can't see this changing in the future.
