Data miners have found files that show the destruction of both Tilted Towers and Retail Row.
Rumors of Tilted Towers going down have been circulating since the very first Fortnite event in Season 4. Epic faked us out with that one and has continually destroyed one of the building in Tilted as a running joke of sorts.
Well, it looks like Tilted is finally going down. It's survived a lot, but it might have met its match in the volcano.
Data miners have been pouring over the files in the 8.50 update, and @FortTroy hit us with a couple of leaks that point to the destruction of Tilted Towers.
New Tilted Towes. . .

In a bit I will try to also leak the destructed buildings. pic.twitter.com/Z5Vpm8d6b2
According to the files, Tilted isn't the only place going down with the impending volcanic eruption. It looks like Retail Row will feel the wrath as well.
Retail is one of the only locations in Fortnite that has been in the game since launch. It would be surprising to see it go now, but Epic is all about surprising us.
Retail Row.... Goodbye.

Buildings are also destructed but I couldnt get that in game YET. pic.twitter.com/yeSupqRCWb
Of course, these are only leaks and might not come to the base game. I think all of this will come to pass, but that's just me. The real question, in my opinion, is whether or not these changes will stay after the event ends.
Will Tilted and Retail stay decimated and possibly be replaced with new POIs, or will the construction crews get to work rebuilding them?
Even more pressing - it looks like the ice on top of Greasy Grove is getting a bit soupy. Is there a chance that we see it return for Season 9?
