Epic announces the downtime for v8.50 which will include the Fortnite x Avengers crossover and some highly anticipated bug fixes.

Many fans were surprised by the lack of patch notes today. Epic traditionally releases their patches on Tuesday or Wednesday, but this week it's a bit different.

The delay makes a lot of sense when you think about it. It doesn't really matter how much encryption Epic adds to their Fortnite patches - dataminers are going to find the weak points.

The 8.50 delay was probably largely done to prevent any leaks about the upcoming Fortnite x Avengers crossover that starts tomorrow. The official Fortnite account posted a tweet about exactly when the downtime for v8.50 will begin.

This tweet also seems to confirm what many fans suspect about the new crossover - Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet will be coming back to Fortnite.

What remains in question, though, is what else we'll be getting our hands on with the Avengers crossover. New promotional images show Captain America's shield, Thor's ax, and Iron Man's gauntlets. Could we be playing with these items as well?

The patch is also supposed to address many of the glaring and widespread bugs plaguing Fortnite, including the trap placement glitch and the audio glitch.
