Players have been looking forward to a Fortnite respawn mechanic since Apex Legends first came out. It looks like we might be getting one sooner than you might expect.
News of a respawn van entering Fortnite has been circulating since Season 8 began. It came right on the heels of the wildly successful Apex Legends, which introduced the idea of a respawn mechanic to the battle royale genre.
Every Fortnite player who played Apex Legends likely had the same idea: Fortnite needs something like this. Well, it looks like the respawn van might be closer than we think.
Dataminers have found clues in the game files that point to the respawn van. Their presence indicates that we might be getting them in the next patch - if not sooner.
To add on to this, new strings regarding it were added in v8.20:

"Requires Reboot Card"
"Rebooting"
" A REBOOT CHIP WAS DROPPED!"
"DELIVER THE CHIP TO A REBOOT VAN!" https://t.co/HjX0T2fg9V
A respawn mechanic would be an exciting addition to Fortnite. There's nothing more annoying than dying right away and watching your team play for 15 to 20 minutes without you.
Apex Legends did a lot of good for the battle royale genre. Some might like to argue about Apex Legends vs. Fortnite, but they're both pushing one another to be better games.
