Today marks a big day in Fortnite history. One year ago today, Ninja played Fortnite with Drake.

Since Fortnite's release, there have been several landmarks and milestones Epic has hit. They've shattered records, innovated the battle royale genre, and offered us in-game events that no other game has come close to matching.

There are several reasons for the game's success. It's free, accessible, and fun. Popular streamers help bring Fortnite to the top of the charts and draw a new audience to the game - none more so than Tyler "Ninja" Blevins.

Ninja brought Fortnite to the mainstream and became a celebrity in his own right. He was breaking records before rumors of a possible collaboration with Drake ever started, but the eventual Fortnite session between the two rocketed the game - and Ninja - to a new level of success.

Ninja may be the most polarizing figure in gaming. Some people love him, some people hate him, and others wish he would go back to the "old" Ninja - or the rage-filled gamer he was during the H1Z1 days.

It doesn't matter what you think of Ninja. You can't deny his role in bringing Fortnite - and gaming in general - to a mass audience. His collaboration with Drake suddenly made it okay to be a gamer. Drake - one of the most famous people in the world - is out there trying to get dubbs like the rest of us.

Today marks a significant date in both Fortnite and gaming history. Love him or hate him, Ninja has done a lot for us gamers.
