Fortnite to Add Buried Treasure in Next Update

Treasure Maps are on their way to Fortnite. Here's what we think will be inside.

Fornite has released their pirate-theme season with new locations, cannons, and pirate camps. The newest item - treasure maps - falls right in line with the theme, but will they be worth the search?

We don't know much about the treasure maps apart from their announcement in the News Feed. the image is accompanied by the line: "Scour the island for hidden loot with the new buried treasure item!"

Dataminer Lucas7Yoshi_ found what he thinks is a model for the treasure maps scattered around the island, although we've already seen this type of chest in the game.

So it seems the map thing would go to these chests, which would presumably be buried and the map would point to the location

All we can do now is speculate, so speculate we will. I would guess that there's only going to be one or two treasure chests in each Fortnite match. Multiple teams will receive maps, which means you will have to fight for this plunder.

Will the fights be worth taking, though? It's a fair assumption that these treasure chests will include several high-tier items. If they didn't, they wouldn't be worth searching for. I'm just throwing things out here, but is it possible that these chests may contain V-Bucks in the form of gold? If so, you can guarantee teams are going to be hunting for them.

I'd also like to think that the treasure will fall somewhere in the circle. It doesn' make sense to send players outside the storm circle on the search for loot.
