Marshmello plays duos with streamer CourageJD and confirms that he was giving live audio during the concert in Pleasant Park.
The Marshmello concert in Pleasant Park over the weekend was the first of its kind for any video game. We hold Fortnite to a high standard when it comes to events, but this one was unlike any other we've seen so far.
Those who were playing Fortnite during the concert only had two options: watch the show or play Creative Mode. Those who chose the former were treated to a concert that can only be described as a pure delight.
There were holograms, beach balls, and enjoyment all around. Marshmello sat down to play a game with streamer and prospective Ariana Grande suitor CourageJD. While they were playing, Marshmello revealed that he was feeding live audio to the concert during the event.
There were two concerts during the event. One was at 2 PM EST and one was at 2 AM EST the next morning in case you missed the first one. I'm guessing Marshmello only provided audio for the first concert, but it's still pretty impressive.
Listen, I'm one of the bigger curmudgeons out there. I was of the "this concert is kinda corny" mindset up until the event happened, as were most of my friends.
When we logged in and watched the show, though, our opinions quickly changed. I was grinning the whole time. I probably said, "This is actually sick," about 20 times during the concert.
Fortnite has hosted some cool events in the past. Kevin's last hurrah was pretty entertaining, but it couldn't hold a candle to this concert.
I recommend checking out a YouTube video of the concert if you missed it - there's no shortage of them.
