The newest Fortnite event is right around the corner. Here's what we know about it so far.
It's been a while since Kevin exploded and sent us into one of the best cutscenes Fortnite has ever seen. Apart from the Fortnitemares event, we haven't seen much in the way of large-scale, in-game events since then.
Now, though, it appears that Epic Games is ready to give us the next chapter in the saga. Dataminers have been pointing to a new "Ice Storm" event, and the TVs in the game recently started warning about the same.
Today, though, we got some confirmation of exactly when the Ice Storm is happening. The timer on the TVs is currently counting down to Saturday, January 19 at 2 PM EST.
What will happen when the timer finishes isn't a complete mystery, though. Lucas7Yoshi, a popular Fortnite dataminer, was able to get a sneak peek of exactly what's going on inside that orb over Polar Peak.

No hacking to the game itself was done to achieve this, no competitive advantage was gained.
This does not violate the Fortnite/Epic Games TOS in anyway that i know of.

As you can see, the Ice King is inside and he's brewing something up. It almost looks like another four-dimensional cube, similar to what Kevin was.
We also know that there will be monsters inserted into the map again. We're all aware how much everyone loved the monsters from the Fortnitemares event, and it looks like they might be making their return to the game.
Fortnite leakers have been warning us of a massive "boss" coming to the map for a while as well. Could this have something to do with the iceberg with five billion HP? Will the iceberg melt to reveal a giant monster hibernating underneath? Only time will tell.
It's good to see that Fortnite is back to its world-building ways, though I'm not super excited to see the zombies come back. Many are guessing that the event will happen in stages and last into the next season.
One thing's almost certain, though: the entire map is going to be covered with snow at some point. This line of thinking makes the addition of the Sneaky Snowman make a lot of sense.
For now, we can only wait until the timer hits 0 on Saturday. I'm sure we'll all be glued to our screens, waiting to see what will happen.
