Fortnite v22.10 is jam-packed with newness, including the Cobra DMR and special Holo-Chests.
With a little over two weeks gone since the launch of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, it’s time for the first major content update.
It’s not just exciting gameplay changes in the v22.10 patch. This season’s Battle Pass Super Levels were added too, though they're not live just yet.
Unlock New Fortnite Holo-Chests
Season 4 introduced Keys that can be used to access Low-Security and High-Security Vaults. Now these Keys have an extra purpose.
The new Holo-Chests display a holographic image of what’s inside so you can decide if it’s worth burning a Key. There are even Exotic Holo-Chests littered around the map, holding you guessed it, Exotic items.
Use one Key to open a standard Holo-Chest or two Keys to unlock an Exotic Holo-Chest. Happy looting!
Wield the Cobra DMR
Say goodbye to the DMR (it’s been vaulted), and hello to the Cobra DMR. What’s the difference? I’ll tell you…
The Cobra DMR has a new-improved scope and a way faster fire rate, although it is still semi-automatic. While the name is similar, it feels like a completely different weapon.
You can find a Cobra DMR in Chests, Supply Drops, and Sharks, as well as from fishing, Reality Sapling Fruit, and on the floor.

Grapple Glove Unvaulted
That’s right! A true fan favourite, Grapple Gloves are back for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4.
Even better, you’ll no longer have to hunt down one of the purple Grapple Glove toolboxes to start swinging. Grab a pair from the ground, in Chests, Supply Drops, and from Legendary and Mythic Reality Sapling Fruit.
According to Epic Games’ official blog post, Grapple Gloves will only be available until the v22.20 update. It’s therefore unsurprising that they also will not be featuring in competitive playlists.
Visit Grim Gables
Shifty Shafts has been replaced by a new named location, welcome down to Grim Gables.
All the underground shafts are gone, and now a big spooky mansion sits in the middle. There are a few small sheds/huts too, but they don’t look like they’ll have much loot.
Right now, it’s unclear whether Grim Gables is here just for Halloween. Additionally, Coney Crossroads has turned into Chrome Crossroads, and the Butter Barn has become the Flutter Barn.
