Fortnite’s most beloved weapon is set to make a glorious return.

A new post from Epic Games has fans almost certain that Pump Shotguns are finally leaving the Fortnite vault – at least in some playlists.

On Wednesday, Epic revealed that the popular Late Game Arena mode will be available to play starting August 30. Following an overwhelmingly positive response to the announcement (which is now the @FNCompetitive account's second most liked tweet), they’ve sent a very interesting reply.

The tweet reads, “What a Legendary reaction! We're so Pumped to see you drop in at 8 am ET on 8.30.2022”.

It didn’t take anyone long to realise that the capitalisation of “Legendary” and “Pumped” was deliberate. This is clearly a hint that the Legendary Pump Shotgun will be making some sort of comeback.

In case you still have any doubt, Epic employee and former Fortnite pro Hogman was spotted in the replies joking “typo probably”.

So, unless this is a huge troll from the developers, we’ll get the chance to wield the Gold Pump again next week.

Now, the question is, to what extent are Pump Shotguns returning?

Based on the fact that this teaser came in response to a tweet about Late Game Arena, it’s very possible that Pumps will be exclusive to this mode.

Pump Shotguns haven’t featured in Battle Royale playlists since the end of Fortnite Chapter 2, almost a whole year ago; this includes the lower rarity variants too.

It would feel a little odd to add such a high-profile item just a couple of weeks before the end of the season. Normally this is the sort of change you’d expect to see on day 1.

Next season is rumoured to be heavily throwback-themed, so it would certainly make sense for Pump Shotguns to be fully unvaulted then instead.

Only time will tell the true fate of the Pump, but many Fortnite lovers will have their fingers crossed that it becomes the go-to Shotgun once more.
