Players hate this health bar issue but it shouldn’t be around for much longer.
With so much going on inside a single game of Fortnite, and regular updates switching things up, it’s unsurprising that we see so many bugs.
These bugs range from small inconveniences to huge problems, like Chest loot spawning in the wrong place. Some are fixed super quick, but others seem to go untouched for months – for example, I’ll still often pick up a second healing item only for the other one to temporarily disappear from my inventory.
The latest of these issues though is a glitch with the health and shield bar. And it’s a big one!
For the past week, the health and shield bar has been displaying wrong. It doesn’t match the number to the right, which is your actual amount of health.
This is a nightmare in fights, because it makes you misjudge your health and play more or less aggressively than you should.
The good news is, Epic is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. According to the Fortnite Community Issues Trello board, it will be “Fixed in a future game update”.
Dataminer @HYPEX recently confirmed that the v21.50 patch is dropping next week. Hopefully this means the health bar glitch will be sorted by then, so around August 30.
They do also offer a workaround on the Trello card. It says, “Using any healing item or shield item should force the correct values to display”.
From what I can tell however, this doesn’t always work. Either way, it’s not much use in the middle of a fight, as you may not have time to heal.
Therefore, your best bet for now is to pay extra attention to your health. Remember, it’s the number to the right of the bar that’s correct, not the graphic itself.
