These crazy solo plays were the difference between tens of thousands of dollars in prize money.
This season’s FNCS wrapped up on Sunday with thrilling conclusions across all the major regions. We saw heartbreak, triumph, and some amazing comebacks.
Wave Esports duo Vadeal & JannisZ came out on top in EU, while Avery & Commandment lifted NA East’s Pickaxe of Champions.
With so much on the line, it’s easy to crack under the pressure. However, a handful of pros seem to have ice in their veins.
Here are five of the best solo clutches we saw players pull off when it mattered most:
5. The top teams hang on – EU Game 11
This one’s not a particular play, but simply a huge moment.
If you missed EU Game 11, please go back and watch the endgame. With the leaderboard so tight at the top, every point counted, and it got intense!
Going into fifth zone, Vadeal, Malibuca and Queasy (1st, 2nd and 3rd place at the time) were all playing solo. Vadeal survived the longest and went on to win the tournament.
4. Khanada slays out – NAE Game 3
When Ajerrs fell with more than 30 people still alive, Khanada had a lot on his plate to keep them in contention.
Luckily, he wasn’t fazed in the slightest. In fact, Khanada went on a rampage, picking up 8 eliminations and securing 2nd place in the match.
3. zAndy goes GOD mode – EU Game 5
Though zAndy did die shortly after grabbing these extra kill points, the clip itself is mind-blowing.
Despite having very little to work with, the Romanian star managed to take out three people in under 5 seconds - talk about composure…
2. Malibuca does the impossible – EU Game 6
After a rough first few games, fan favourites Merstach and Malibuca caught right back up during the latter half of Day 1.
With Merstach clutching up in Game 5, Malibuca promptly returned the favour. He fought off both Joe and zAndy under what felt like unwinnable conditions to lock in back-to-back Victory Royales.
1. Commandment clutches the Championship – NAE Game 12
This is another one you really need to go back and enjoy again. Commandment was alone from fourth zone and made it deep into endgame.
They ended up winning the FNCS by a single point, meaning that last elim and placement shown in the clip above provided the 3-point swing necessary for them to become champions. Wow.
